The Buffalo Maker Faire is a full-blown WNY community festival that celebrates innovation, invention, and the do-it-yourself spirit!  We bring together artists, tinkerers, scientists, experimenters, crafters, designers, engineers, foodies, musicians, and builders of all ages who want to share their work and ideas with others. Whether you make your own computer software or musical instruments, build your own robots or racecars, or make candy or poetry, Maker Faires are your chance to show the community what you’re making!  This is your chance to be a part of this vibrant community!

The event will be hosted by the Electric Mayhem Robotics Team and will be held at the Nichols School located at 1250 Amherst St, Buffalo, NY 14216.  The event will take place on Saturday, July 18th, 2026. Set up begins at 8 am, doors open to the public at 10am and the Faire runs until 4pm.

We are once again working hard to beat our past event records!

  • We will attract over a thousand attendees.
  • You will have the opportunity to meet the over 50 makers showing and explaining projects of all sorts.
  • You will have opportunities to participate in hands-on activities.

This is an all ages, family-friendly event that showcases the amazing work of all kinds of makers across the Western New York area and beyond—anyone who is embracing the DIY or DIT (do-it-together!) spirit and wants to share their accomplishments with an appreciative audience.

Exhibits that are interactive or highlight the process of making things are especially desired.

Entries

The first step to participating in the Maker Faire is to submit an entry that tells us about yourself and your project. Entries can be submitted from individualsgroups such as hobbyist clubs and schools; commercial makers or crafters; startups; and companies.

Here are some suggested ideas for topics that we’re looking for:

  • If you make it, hack it, build with it, love it and are willing to talk about it – We want you!
    • Traditional crafts like knitting, crocheting, felting, sewing, embroidery
    • Tool working, carving, woodworking, mill & lathing, laser engraving
    • Industrial Arts like ceramics, printing, electronics, metalwork, soldering
    • Coding projects like robots, drones, 3D printing, microprocessors
    • Art like painting, sculpture, sidewalk artists, performance art projects, photography
    • Stuff that even we don’t know that people make!

Note: There is no fee to participate in the Maker Faire, however we are only interested in Makers that want to share their talents and work with the community.  We are not looking for vendors that want so sell their work.   A Maker Faire is not a Craft Show.  A Maker Faire is an Education Experience.   A Craft Show is a commercial experience.

Maker Exhibit: Our standard setup for a Maker exhibit is a 10′ by 10′ area with an 8ft long table and 2 chairs provided. Use your space to display your work and/or demonstrate how you make something.  You can even work on a new project in your booth.  We do have more room available for larger displays- If you need more space for your exhibit or project, you can let us know in the Call for Makers form.  We expect Makers to talk to the community and teach them about what they make and how they make it!

Presentations/Performances:  Do you want to give a lecture or present some artistic performance?  We have several 15 and 30 minute slots available for people that want to do a presentation.

Workshops:  Do you want to teach people a skill or help them make a craft?    We would love to have you run a workshop for us!  Funding is available to cover costs of consumable materials for workshops.

Please email us at electricmayhem@nicholsschool.org for further clarification.
